Most of the online services now have two-step verification which is an additional layer of security for any of your Online account and now WhatsApp has also introduced two-step verification.

Two-Step verification is an optional step by which you can protect your WhatsApp account. Two-Step Verification allows you to set a six-digit code and that will be required when you are setting and verifying your phone number on any other devices.

With this, you create a six-digit code and also provide an email in case you forget the passcode. You will be asked to enter this six-digit code every time you add the phone number on a new device. You will be able to create the passcode yourself.

If you somehow forgot the passcode then you will receive a link to your email from your you can disable the two-step verification. So, if you don’t have any email account or you don’t intend to provide one and you forget the passcode then your account will be locked and you won’t be able to re-verify the phone number again until a week later from the last use.

After seven days you will be able to re-verify the phone number on WhatsApp but all the previous conversations and messages will be deleted.
