Verizon won’t be releasing the update to disable Galaxy Note 7

Verizon
Samsung just announced that it will be soon rolling out an update for all the Galaxy Note 7 handsets in the US that would disable the remaining units of Note 7 but Verizon opposed it and they have something to announced.

Verizon released a statement on their official website that they won’t be releasing the update for their Note 7 devices that will disable them. The popular carrier said that it’s the holiday season and most people are travelling and it isn’t appropriate to disable their devices and their method of communication especially for those users who don’t have any other to switch to after this update.

We will not push a software upgrade that will eliminate the ability for the Note7 to work as a mobile device in the heart of the holiday travel season. We do not want to make it impossible to contact family, first responders or medical professionals in an emergency situation.

-Verizon said in their statement.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is a big risk to owner and others around them and it even convinced the Samsung to send out the update to disable this particular handset. Verizon is going somewhere else with this because airlines have banned Galaxy Note 7 from being bought on the planes.

What are your thoughts about this decision taken by Verizon? Do you think it’s a good decision or bad? Let us know in comments below.
