Qualcomm announced the Quick Charge 4 on Thursday Morning. This will be their fourth generation of super-fast charging technology. It is expected to be released in H1 of 2017.
As claimed by Qualcomm’s senior director of product management Everett Roach, the Quick Charge 4 will provide up to 5 hours of battery just on a quick 5 minute charge. He said:
“We put a lot of hard work and engineering into new products, and we’re gonna deliver what we hope is a much better charging experience from 2016,”
Roach further said that safety is one of our top priority and Quick Charge 4 will have protections to prevent overcharging and overheating on adapters and devices using it.
This time Qualcomm is will have 20 % faster charging time in Quick Charge 4 while with 30% more battery efficiency as compared to the older generation of Quick Charge, Quick Charge 3. Quick Charge 4 will also keep the phone cooler, up to 5 degree °C cooler as compared to Quick Charge 3.
This 4th Gen of Qualcomm’s super-fast charging technology will be integrated into upcoming Qualcomm’s processor including the new upcoming Snapdragon 835.
The company doesn’t want this technology to only phone limited but they want to have this technology in tablets, Drones and VR headsets.
Alex Katouzian, Qualcomm’s vice president of product management, said:
“Quick Charge 4 addresses that need by providing up to 50 percent battery charge in roughly 15 minutes or less, so you don’t have to spend all day chained to your charging cable,”
